Queens Now is the official mobile app for BQE Media, which publishes six newspapers in Queens and is the communication hub and source for several membership organizations, including Heroes basketball and baseball leagues, Queens County Bar Association and the concerts in Forest Park.
BQE Media also runs several social media accounts, and hosts a number of local neighborhood-specific blogs. All of this and much more, including events, real estate listings, restaurants and cultural attraction, will be at your fingertips in one app on your smartphone.
• Newspapers: Our six weekly Queens newspapers provide in-depth reporting on breaking news, major events and crime. Stay on top of what is going on in your part of the borough as it’s happening. We publish The Queens Ledger (established in 1873), Glendale Register (established in 1935), The Leader Observer of Woodhaven (established in 1909), Long Island City/Astoria Journal, Forest Hills Times and Queens Examiner.
• Blogs: Get even more local and know what’s happening on your block with one of our many neighborhood blogs. They are updated constantly with news, features, and events and the content feeds directly into the app so you can always check it on the go.
• Restaurants/Cultural Attractions: In an unfamiliar part of the borough and looking for a place to eat or something fun to do? Turn on your phone’s location services and find restaurants and cultural attractions near you. Or just use the neighborhood search and discover something new about your own neighborhood.
• Events: Queens Now features hundreds of local events, from a garage sale down the block to shows at Flushing Town Hall, so you can plan your evening or your entire weekend.
• Real Estate: Looking to move to a new part of Queens? Find out what the local real estate market has to offer in your desired neighborhood, whether you are looking to rent or own.
• User-Generated Content: But Queens Now isn’t all about BQE Media, it’s a two-way street. Through the app, you can upload photos of an event at your child’s school, video of a fire near your home, or the score of a local sporting event and share it with the rest of the borough. And you can of course use the app if you just simply want to get in touch with us.
• Benefits: Once you become a registered user, you will be alerted to news events of importance in the borough, as well as special offers from local businesses tailored to your interests, including deals at your favorite restaurant, discounts on tickets to hot shows, or a tip on an upcoming sale at your favorite shoe store.
Whether you live in Howard Beach or Long Island City, Queens Now will keep you up to date on everything that is happening in Queens and all of the great things the borough has to offer.
